"PAM, I JUST BOUGHT OUR PLANE TICKETS, WE'RE GOING TO EGYPT!” My dream to backpack into three countries with my daughter was coming true. It was no longer a pipe dream. I was excited, and scared.
Pyramids and the Promised Land travel diary and memoir eBook Helen Cates
Self-published books on Amazon can be hit and miss, but considering the typical low cost of these books, it’s worth a chance if the subject matter is of interest. This book is well worth the cost. It’s an engaging and easy read about a mother and her young daughter’s travel in the Middle East. It’s a forthright account presented as a general travelogue that sometimes delves into tedious detail, but it still held my interest throughout. It’s an interesting snapshot of American folkways besieged by a foreign culture and the courageous determination of a mother and child to experience a once in a lifetime adventure. Anyone who is interested in traveling outside of their country for the first time (and especially to the Middle East) should invest the few hours that it takes to read this book.

Pyramids and the Promised Land travel diary and memoir eBook Helen Cates Reviews
Enjoyed reading about this journey. Helen pressed through fear and anxiety to backpack 3 countries in the Middle East with her 12 year old daughter. They experienced different cultures and some interesting interruptions throughout the travels. I met Helen and Pamela on a bus from Masada to Eilat. We spent some time together in Eilat and it was delightful. Really enjoyed this book of her experiences. It is well written.
